Once you create an Amazon SNS connection, you can proceed to configure the data source in Sigma Studio for sending e-mails on the generated status of the reports to the existing subscribers of a topic in the Amazon SNS email delivery service.

  1. In Sigma Studio, right-click the created Amazon SNS connection and select the Create Data Source option.

    Refer Connectors - Amazon SNS for more information on creating an Amazon SNS connection.

  2. Enter a unique data source name in the Data Source Name field, e.g. AMAZON S3 SNS DS.

  3. In the Bucket Topic Name field, provide the bucket topic name present in the connected S3 storage SNS delivery service, e.g. sigmareportsSNSCHECK.

    Note

    The File Path and File Name are optional fields. For transferring the files to the S3 cloud-based storage service, there is no need to specify the file path and the file name. Currently, Sigma Studio supports only the transfer of files to the S3 bucket cloud-based storage service. For the transferring of files to the S3 cloud based storage service, the supported formats are listed as follows:

    • CSV
    • XLS
    • PDF
    • DOCX
    • TXT
    • HTML
    • XML

  4. Click Save to save the S3 SNS data source.

    Warning

    When you try to exit the Data Source screen, before saving the configured S3 SNS data source, a warning pop-up message appears, as shown in the following screen shot:

    • Click Cancel, if you do not want to exit the Data Source screen.
    • Click Ok, if you want to exit the Data Source screen.

  5. Click Ok.

Client Customization

To customize an Amazon S3 data source for a specific corporate client or customer, perform the following steps in Sigma Studio:


  1. Right-click the newly created Amazon S3 data source (e.g. Amazon S3 DS) and select the Customize DS for Client option.

     Click the Client lookup field and select the Corporate Client or Customer of your choice, e.g. HIGHSCORE.

    Note

    The Parent Data Source Id and Connection Name are non-editable fields. Image Removed icon is used to export the S3 data source in the SQL format, while Image Removed is used to delete the S3 data source.

     Provide a unique data source name in the Data Source Name field, e.g. HIGHSCORE S3 DS.

    In the Bucket Name field, provide the accurate bucket name, which exists in the S3 storage service, e.g. sigmareports.

    Note

    The File Path and File Name are optional fields. Both the File Path and File Name fields are not required if you want to transfer files to a specific bucket in the S3 storage service. It is sufficient only if you provide the relevant bucket name, specific to the selected corporate client or customer, in the Bucket Name field.

  2. Click Ok.
  3. Once the SNS data source is created, you can proceed to configure a report based on your needs and requirements.

  4. Access the Information Report screen and configure the report with the relevant and appropriate configurations, as shown in the following screen shot:

  5. Click the Additional Info tab.

  6. Click the Publishers drop Notification Channel drop-down list and select the S3BUCKET SNS option.

  7. Click the S3BUCKET SNS option to select the S3 SNS data source.

  8.  In the Select Publisher Data Source Id popIn the Notification Template Configuration pop-up, click the Publisher Datasource lookup Data Source ID lookup field and select the Parent S3 SNS data source, e.g. AMAZON_S3SNS_DS.

    Note

    For making use of the the customized S3 data source for a specific client, it is essential that the Parent S3 data source for the customized client data source should be aptly selected. The customized client S3 data source is HIGHSCORE S3 DS, whereas the Parent Data Source Id is AMAZON_S3_DS. So, it is essential that the AMAZON_S3_DS Parent Data Source is selected in the Publisher Data Source lookup field, while configuring a report in Sigma Studio.

    By default, the Select Failure Notification checkbox is enabled. If the Select Failure Notification checkbox is enabled, then the SNS subscribers will receive an email on the status of the generated reports, which get failed in Sigma Application. On deselecting the Select Failure Notification checkbox, the SNS subscribers will not receive an e-mail, notifying the status of the failed reports in Sigma Application. You can assign the configured notification templates with success and failure messages for the SNS delivery service by selecting the configured notification templates from the Success Notification Template and the Failure Notification Template drop-down lists. For detailed information on configuring notification templates, refer Notification Templates.

  9. Once the report is configured with essential attributes, click Save to save the report.

  10. Access the relevant report, e.g. ACCOUNTS ACCOUNT DETAILS in the Sigma Application and click Run to generate the report.

    Note

    For detailed information on generating the reports in Sigma Application, refer Generating a Report in Sigma. Once the report gets generated, the status of the generated report can be found on the specified bucket, present in the S3 cloud-based storage servicewill be notified in an email to the SNS subscribers, who have subscribed to the topic for the SNS email delivery service in the AWS portal.

    ACCOUNTS report PDF file can be found in the provided bucket (e.g. sigmareports) on the S3 cloud-based storage service

    status of the generated report is displayed as Published to Repository in Sigma Application.

    Published to Repository indicates the successful generation of the report. For detailed information on the report status messages, refer Report Generation Status Messages.

    The SNS subscribers who have subscribed to the SNSCHECK topic for the SNS delivery service in the AWS portal are displayed, as shown in the following sample screen shot:
