Once you create an Amazon SNS connection, you can proceed to configure the data source in Sigma Studio for sending e-mails on the generated status of the reports to the existing subscribers of a topic in the Amazon SNS email delivery service.
For sending e-mails on the generated status of the reports to the existing subscribers of a topic in the Amazon SNS email delivery service, perform the following steps:
- In Sigma Studio, right-click the created Amazon SNS connection and select the Create Data Source optionClick the Data Source icon on an existing Amazon SNS connection, e.g. NEW AMAZON SNS CONNECTION.
Refer Connectors - – Amazon SNS for more information on creating an Amazon SNS connection.
The Create New Data Source page appears. - Enter a unique data source name in the Data Source Name field, e.g. AMAZON S3 SNS DS.
In the Bucket Topic Name field, provide the bucket topic name present in the connected S3 storage SNS delivery service, e.g. sigmareportsSNSCHECK.
If required, you can add the message attributes to the SNS data source. In the Message Attributes section, provide the appropriate message name and path in the respective fields of Name and Path.
Click Save to save the S3Note The File Path and File Name are optional fields. For transferring the files to the S3 cloud-based storage service, there is no need to specify the file path and the file name. Currently, Sigma Studio supports only the transfer of files to the S3 bucket cloud-based storage service. For the transferring of files to the S3 cloud based storage service, the supported formats are listed as follows:
- CSV
- XLS
- DOCX
- TXT
- HTML
- XML
For message attributes, if you provide Name, Path and Value, then, only the attributes provided for the Name and the Path fields will be taken into consideration. You can assign any one of the message attributes for either the Path or the Value field. In case, if you do not want to specify a message attribute path in the Path field, then you can directly specify the message attribute value in the Value field. It is not essential to provide the message attributes for both the Path and Value fields. You can even create the SNS data source without adding any message attributes, as the message attributes are only optional for configuring the SNS data source.
If the report’s filter value needs to be shown in the SNS notification:
- In the Value field, enter the filter column ID directly.
OR
- In the Value field, enter as ${COLUMN_ID}.
- To add a message attribute, click the Plus icon, whereas to delete an existing message attribute, click the Remove icon.
Click Save to save the SNS data source.
Warning When you try to exit the Data Source screen, before saving the configured S3 SNS data source, a warning pop-up message appears, as shown in the following screen shot:
- Click Cancel, if you do not want to exit the Data Source screen.
- Click Ok, if you want to exit the Data Source screen.
A success message for creating the data source appears as shown in the following screenshot:Click Ok.
Client Customization
To customize an Amazon S3 SNS data source for a specific corporate client or customer, perform the following steps in Sigma Studio:
- Right-click the newly Hover the mouse on the created Amazon S3 SNS data source (e.g. Amazon S3 AMAZON SNS DS) and click the icon. Proceed to select the Customize DS for Client option to configure a customized client data source.
The Edit Datasource page Customize DS for Client page appears. Click Click the Client lookup field and select the Corporate Client or Customer of your choice, e.g. HIGHSCORE.
Note The Parent Data Source Id and Connection Name are non-editable fields. icon is used to export the S3 data source in the SQL format, while is used to delete the S3 data source.
- Provide Enter a unique data source name in the Data Source Name field, e.g. HIGHSCORE S3 SNS DS.
In the Bucket Topic Name field, provide the accurate bucket name, which exists in the S3 storage topic name present in the connected SNS delivery service, e.g. sigmareports SNSCHECK.
Note The File Path and File Name are optional fields. Both the File Path and File Name fields are not required if you want to transfer files to a specific bucket in the S3 storage service. It is sufficient only if you provide the relevant bucket name, specific to the selected corporate client or customer, in the Bucket Name field.
Click Save to save the customized S3 data source for the selected HIGHSCORE client.
A confirmation message, indicating a successful save of the customized S3 bucket data source, appears.- Click Ok.
Access the Information Report screen and configure the report with the relevant and appropriate configurations, as shown in the following screen shot:
Note For detailed information on creating reports, refer Configuring Reports.
Click the Additional Info tab.Click the Publishers drop-down list and select the S3BUCKET option.
Click the S3BUCKET option to select the S3 data source.In the Select Publisher Data Source Id pop-up, click the Publisher Datasource lookup field and select the Parent S3 data source, e.g. AMAZON_S3_DS.
Note For making use of the the customized S3 data source for a specific client, it is essential that the Parent S3 data source for the customized client data source should be aptly selected. The customized client S3 data source is HIGHSCORE S3 DS, whereas the Parent Data Source Id is AMAZON_S3_DS. So, it is essential that the AMAZON_S3_DS Parent Data Source is selected in the Publisher Data Source lookup field, while configuring a report in Sigma Studio.
Once the report is configured with essential attributes, click Save to save the report.
Access the relevant report, e.g. ACCOUNTS in the Sigma Application and click Run to generate the report.
Note For detailed information on generating the reports in Sigma Application, refer Generating a Report in Sigma. Once the report gets generated, the generated report can be found on the specified bucket, present in the S3 cloud-based storage service.
If required, you can add the message attributes to the client customized SNS data source. In the Message Attributes section, provide the appropriate message name and path in the respective fields of Name and Path.

Click Save to save the client customized SNS data source.
Warning When you try to exit the Customize DS for Client screen, before saving the configured SNS data source, a warning pop-up message appears, as shown in the following screen shot:
On accessing the ACCOUNTS PDF file from the listed bucket (sigmareports) in the S3 storage service, you can view the additional details and properties of the transferred report PDF file,- Click Cancel, if you do not want to exit the Customize DS for Client screen.
- Click Ok, if you want to exit the Customize DS for Client screen.
