There are two ways to edit a custom workspace:

  1. Through Design Your Canvas (steps are listed in this section).
  2. Through Re-design Your Canvas (RYC). Refer Customizing Workspace through RYC.

To edit the custom workspace, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Design Your Canvas icon on the homepage of the application.


The DYC homepage displays with the custom workspace label as shown in the following screen shot:

  1. Click on the Edit icon (highlighted in the following screen shot). The widgets added to the workspace display.



  1. To remove or add widgets from the custom workspace, click +.



Tip: Use the search bar to search for the widgets. For more information, refer Search Bar Feature.
Note: The permissible range for the number of apps within the workspace is 1 to 9. This range cannot be modified on the end-users' request. However, if the implementation teams decide to increase the range, the limit can be changed in the systempreferences.properties file.

Note: If you want to remove all widgets from the custom workspace in one go, click the Edit icon on the custom workspace label and then click the Clear icon on the DYC home page ribbon as shown in the following screen shot.

  1. Click Save to save the widgets. The following confirmation message displays. Click OK.


Note: You must also click the Save icon on the DYC homepage to save the changes made to the custom workspace.


On clicking OK in the Confirmation message, the changes made to the custom workspace are saved.

The modified custom workspace can also be accessed from the homepage of your application. For example, in the following screen shot MY CUSTOM WORKSPACE displays on the homepage of CT Modelhouse.

Note: You can change or create icons of your choice for the custom workspaces by modifying or creating CSS templates. The end-users will not be able to change the default icons for the custom workspaces.

Customizing Workspaces through RYC


Note: The RYC feature is available for applications supported by TBS only.

Customizing System Workspaces


To customize a system workspace, perform the following steps:

  1. Click the system workspace that you want to customize. In the following screen shot, the system workspace named 'Payments' on CT Modelhouse is selected for customization.


  1. Click Menu & More to access RYC.



  1. To remove or add widgets from custom workspace, click +.


Apps display depending on the entitlement of the end-user. Select or deselect the required apps.

Tip: Use the search bar to search for the widgets. For more information, refer Search Bar Feature.
Note: The permissible range for the number of apps within the workspace is 1 to 9. This range cannot be modified on the end-users' request. However, if you want to increase the range, set the value as required for the DYC_ALLOWED_WIDGETS_LIMIT_FOR_APPSTORE property in the systempreferences.properties file. The range that you set for DYC is also applicable for RYC.

  1. Click Save to save the widgets. The following confirmation message displays. Click OK.


  1. Provide a unique name to the customized workspace. This is because after you modify a system workspace it cannot be saved with the existing name. It can only be saved as a new custom workspace.


If you try to save the modifications in the same workspace name, the following error message displays:

Modifying Custom Workspaces


To modify a custom workspace, perform the following steps:

  1. Click the custom workspace on the homepage of your application.


  1. Click Menu & More to access RYC.


  1. To remove or add widgets from custom workspace, click the +.

OR
Switch on the toggle button to save the modifications done to the custom workspace with a new name.

Additional feature of RYC


RYC also enables you to allow the end-user to view and access the workspace menus in Ribbon or Accordion format. For this you must set the value for WS_MENU_RENDER_TYPE property as RIBBON or ACCORDION in the systempreferences.properties file:

Ribbon format: Workspace menus display in Ribbon format.

Accordion format: Workspace menus display in Accordion format in the RYC menu.

Note: You cannot modify the workspace menus in DYC and RYC.
