Downloading Workspace Configuration

Canvas offers the viability of downloading workspace configuration in a feasible manner for promotion to target environments. The metadata of the workspaces can be exported in the formats of JSON and SQL. To export the metadata of the workspaces in the formats of JSON and SQL, perform the following steps in Canvas Studio:

  1. On the home page of Canvas Studio, click Workspace Designer.

  2. Hover the mouse on the workspace of your choice and click JSON option to export the metadata in JSON format. For SQL download, move to Step 4.


    A message box appears, indicating the successful generation of the file.

  3. Click Ok. After the JSON file is downloaded, save it in the project repository.

    The exported JSON file, which comprises the metadata of the workspace can be imported into the target environment using Canvas Studio, by making use of the Import option. For more information on importing JSON files to Canvas Studio, refer Import of Metadata in JSON Format.


  4. Hover the mouse on the workspace of your choice and click SQL option to export the metadata in SQL format. 


    A message box appears, indicating the successful generation of the file.

  5. Click Ok. After the SQL file is downloaded, save it in the project repository.

    You can execute the exported SQL scripts on the target environment's Canvas schema for promotion.

Bulk Export

  1. For bulk export of the workspaces in JSON format, select the workspaces of your choice and proceed to click the option of.

  2. For the bulk export of the workspaces in SQL format, select the workspaces of your choice and then proceed to click the option of.
