Configuring a Pivot Report
To create pivot reports, perform the following steps in Sigma Studio:
- On the home page of Sigma Studio, click Manage > Report.
The Information Report screen appears with the Report Maintenance tab, by default. - Enter a unique ID for the report in the Report Id field.
- Enter a unique display name for the report in the Report Name field.
- Click the Data Source Name field and select a data source. Refer Creating Data Connections to create a database or webservice connection and data source.
- Click the Select Allowed Formats field and select the formats in which the report can be generated. The following formats are supported: PDF, XLS and DOCX.
- Select the Pivot Report checkbox adjacent to the Select Allowed Format field.
- Once you select the Pivot Report checkbox, an alignment dropdown list appears, from where you can select the pivot report layout. Compact, Outline, and Tabular are the layouts for pivot reports.
Select the column that must be the column area for the pivot report from the Select Columns to Display field. For example, in the Summary Pivot Report, the ACCOUNT_NO is the column area.
What is a column area in a pivot table?
When a column is selected as a column area, unique values in the column will only appear across the top in the pivot report.
- You can view the column attributes for a selected column in the Select Columns to Display field by clicking any of the selected columns, e.g. ACCOUNT_NO.
- For the pivot report, the selected columns are displayed as pivot columns. The Pivot Column toggle option is enabled for the selected column when the Pivot Report option is selected. If required, you can specify the display formula and the sort column for the pivot column in the Display Formula and Sort Column/Formula fields respectively.
- When the Pivot Column toggle option if turned off, the Select Aggregate Function drop-down list appears, which enables you to assign an aggregation for the selected column. It must be noted that the aggregate functions can be assigned only for the columns that are not pivot columns.
- You can view the column attributes for a selected column in the Select Columns to Display field by clicking any of the selected columns, e.g. ACCOUNT_NO.
Select the row-level area column(s) for the pivot report in Select Groupable Columns field. For example, in the Summary Pivot Report, the Status is the row-level data column.
What is a row area in a pivot table?
When a column is selected as the row area, it populates as the first column in the pivot report. Similar to the columns, all row labels will be unique values with duplicates removed.
Select the value-level area column(s) for the pivot report in Select Value Columns field. For example, in the Summary Pivot Report, the AVAI_BALANCE is the value-level data column.
What is a value area in a pivot table?
Each value is kept in a pivot table cell and display the summarized information. The common values are average, count, maximum, minimum, and sum.
- You can view the group functions for the particular value column in the Select Value Columns field by clicking the selected value column, e.g. AVAI_BALANCE.
- In the Summarize value using group function pop-up window, you can assign the group or aggregate function for the selected value column by clicking the Select Group Header drop-down list. The available group functions are: Average, Count, Maximum, Minimum and Sum. Count appears as the default group function for the selected value column.

- You can view the group functions for the particular value column in the Select Value Columns field by clicking the selected value column, e.g. AVAI_BALANCE.
- Click Save to save the configured pivot report.
A confirmation message appears. - Click Ok for the message.
