Connectors – Amazon S3

Sigma enables you to connect with Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), a cloud-based object storage service where objects in the form of files or folders are stored within the buckets. Buckets are the containers, which comprise the stored objects. The stored objects can be viewed and downloaded from the buckets on the S3 cloud-based storage interface. Using Sigma, you can transfer the configured reports to the specific bucket, present in the S3 storage service.

Perform the following essential steps on the Amazon Web Services portal:

  • You should have already created an AWS account as an Identity Access Management (IAM) or a Root User to make use of the SNS email delivery services.
  • Once you register as an IAM or a Root User in Amazon Web Services (AWS), you can proceed to create a bucket on the S3 storage service so that you could transfer the reports from Sigma to the created bucket on the S3 storage service.
  • To create a new bucket, make use of the Create Bucket option and provide the essential bucket details for the bucket creation. You will be able to transfer the files to the bucket on the S3 cloud-based storage service interface in a secured manner.

On the S3 cloud-based storage service, let's assume that the sigmareports bucket had already been created using the AWS portal, as shown in the following sample screen shot:

By making use of Sigma Studio, the configuration UI, you can easily establish a connection with the S3 cloud-based storage service using minimal sets of configurable actions. You can even transfer the report files to the bucket of your choice (e.g. sigmareports) on the S3 cloud storage service with simple and handy configuration steps.

Prerequisites

To create Amazon S3 connections, make sure to copy all the JAR files from the following location in the CT Sigma platform binary:

  • \Sigma_ARX_Release_20.1.9.0_18032.zip\Sigma_ARX_Release_20.1.9.0_18032\Supporting_Jars\Camel_Jars\AWS_Jars

And place those files in your application WAR files on the app or web server. For example, <Tomcat-Installed-Folder>\webapps\sigma\WEB-INF\lib folder in the above mentioned path.

Perform the following steps to create an Amazon S3 connection in Sigma Studio:

  1. On the home page of Sigma Studio, click Manage > Connection.

The Create New Connection page appears, as shown in the following screenshot:

  2. Click the OTHERS and select the amazon S3 option.

  3. Enter a unique name for the connection in Connection Name field. Here, NEW AMAZON S3 CONNECTION is provided as the Connection Name.

  4. Provide a valid access key of the S3 cloud-based storage service in the Access Key field, e.g. AKIA46OSTORY5OKKPR4L.

  5. Provide a valid secret key of the S3 storage service in the Secret Key field, e.g. nYEX8uz/m0tfv7mmPfyjsWPdtRIgMTY27UJDKRzV.

  6. Provide the geographical region which acts as the access point of the S3 storage service in the Region field, e.g. ap-southeast-1.

  7. Click Submit to save the Amazon S3 connection.

When you try to exit the Connectors screen, before saving the configured S3 connection, a warning pop-up message appears, as shown in the following screen shot:

    • Click Cancel, if you do not want to exit the Connectors screen.
    • Click Ok, if you want to exit the Connectors screen.

A success message for creating the S3 connection appears, as shown in the following screenshot:

  8. Click Ok.
