App Designer - App Shortcut

App Shortcut is an app type that is used to render quick links to any of the following Canvas models across the entire application:

  • Workspace
  • Sub Workspace
  • App
  • Form
  • Context Action With App

For example: When an application contains multiple workspaces, there may be a need to provide quick links to apps which are mapped into other workspaces. These links empower users to quickly access their most frequently used apps from different workspaces and thereby, improving their efficiency and experience with the application.

The configuration for App Shortcut involves the following steps:

  1. Create an App for the App Shortcut type using App Designer.
    This will act as a shortcut container holding the list of shortcut links to the corresponding canvas models mapped to it.
  2. Create Shortcuts for the models (Workspaces, Sub Workspaces, Apps or Forms) that you want to place in the shortcut container.
  3. Create the App Shortcut Container and associate the shortcuts to it.
  4. Create the workspace and subworkspace and associate the app with the subworkspace. Refer Designing Workspaces using Workspace Designer for more details.
